Week 8,9

My internship is great and things that i wanted to accomplish seem that i am accomplishing it, my mentor is great. he help us with lot's of things and i am really confident that i can do what i want to do like my goal for this internship which is coming true for me.

I don't think they is any different for me everything is great the environment everything, i just like working in this place because i think it can help me with lot's of things in my future.

New skills that i learned are how to be with a kid and also what can make a kid get along with you. I also learned to tutor better with the kids , and also i have learned how to calm my self down. I also learned how to communicate with childrens. The skills that is more transferable is the way i am communicating the children is like it's getting better and better everyday.

i can say that i have the best mentor than every other eleven graders in the school have. because first he is a great person, he now how to be and talk people, he is careful and also helpful. He don't have no problem with nobody. And the co-workers i can say they are good people to work with.

I hace grown a lot in this job because being with these people make you think that you in a high level and the way they act and react you can just see how great they are, especially my mentor.

We use verbal communication went we talking to each other.

I didn't face any challenges that is hard but it just that sometime when you try to help the kids they refuse to do they work and you have to kind of talk to them so that they can do it but sometime event you say that they won't do it , beside that the childrens are great.

In school , i have little of challenges because sometime I be having lot's of home work and if I came from work i'll be very tired and I won't be able to do it. But i just handle them by doing my work and after that get a rest.

I am working on getting to know more of how this job work and what certain other thing would you need to be able to work with kids.

something that i learned about New York city is that it's a great place to be, but also it's a place that you have to work hard if you want to accomplish certain things.

My site is Arab American Family Support Center we are doing a youth program, helping people to get medicare, and helping them to find a jobs, but my main job is a helping tudee, I'm doing a tutoring, or after school program. My internship place at 150 Cort st, it is Atlantic Pacific neighborhood. My mentor's name is Paul Anderton, he is from Britten he is the manger of the voluntaries who come to the center. he is very nice guy, he is very respectful, and he is super vicering the kids activities. What I done so far I helped a lot of kids to improve writing skills and reading skills, and helping them to do their home work. The kids are very hyper and it is very hard to get them to the subject, but it is good when they listen to me and start doing the work, and I can play games with the kids if they finish their home work Early. I leave my school at 11:20 AM and I go to my home for 1.5 hour and then I leave my home at 1:00 PM. It takes from me one hour to get their I start at 2:00 and I finish 5:00 and then I go to my mentor to sign my time card or I ask Emily to sign it if my mentor not there, and when I leave at 5:00 I get back home at 6:00 PM. this week is different than the last week because I have more experience plus my mentor gave me more work to do. the only thing that I like in my internship is, when I have idea and I share it with my mentor, then he agree with me and we start working on it. what I don't like about my internship is the children are very Sly and sometimes they are disrespectful and driving me very crazy, and that what push me to be so mean with them.

Week Three - Life as a High School Intern

So many things are happening as the days pass. Two periods a day of classes, then you're off to the cafeteria for a delicious and hearty lunch, a little socializing with your friends, and a few "I'll see you tomorrows". Then you're on your way to the train or bus so that you can do your thing: Intern, assist, help out, learn.

Every time I go to my internship I go to my mentor, then I tell him good afternoon sir. and he say good afternoon fady, then I go to the class room to sharp all the pencils and to organize the chairs, and the tables, and I situp the colors and the work sheets. some times my ment0r comes to me and ask me to make some copies for all the kids and before the kids come in side the center my mentor give me some snacks for the kids so when the kids comes to the class then they find something to eat and after one hour the kids start to do their home work and we help them to make them understand the material of their classes. and in the end of the day if they finish their home work early then we play games like chess for example, or we do some reading until their parents come to take them home. at the end of the day I go to my mentor and I till him it is time for for me to go please sign my time card if you can please, then he till me of course and thank you for helping us have a good day. then I leave

Week 2 - Getting better acquainted with your site

In my next week of internship my mentor asked me to make copies of work sheets for the little kids and they can use it after they finish their home work if there is few minutes left and after they leave I help up to clean the class room then I start to organize every thing and I go to my mentor and I ask him would you sign my card please and if he asked me what did you do then I tell him what did I do today.

You're off to your second week interning and I suspect you're learning a great deal about the ins and outs of your site. This week's writing task involves how you document the work you'll be doing each day. In other words, "How do you keep good records of the work you do each day?" This is an extremely important part of your internship and you’ll need to use your journals each and every day. Take a look at this story: An intern came to me this morning and complained that he wanted a new site. I responded "Why?" He began to tell me how he had asked his mentor if he could use an office computer. She said, "Sure, no problem." So this young man proceeded to do some work on the computer for an hour or so. At the time he was about to leave and get his time card signed, his mentor approached him and said, "What have you done today?" He paused, sort of amazed that she was asking him that question. To make matters worse, his mentor didn't ask the question in a kind way, and the intern felt pretty upset. He had been working all day at his internship site, but he wasn't quick to respond with a list of things that he'd done. He left the internship that day feeling really dejected. He wished he Had not been there at all. It was a sad day.

I learned two things from this story first don't do any school work at you internship, and if my mentor asked me what did I do at this day I will just answer hem/her, and it is not a big deal if my mentor asked me about what did I do by some way, and if I did something wrong, then I will apologise to my mentor, check hands and I will say good bye.
